How to use this Wordle solver

  1. Type the five-letter word you guessed in the game.
  2. Mark each letter the way the game showed it: × not in word (grey), ~ wrong place (yellow), ✓ right place (green).
  3. Press Find words. After your next guess, add a row and the list gets shorter.

What green, yellow and grey mean here

GreenRight placeThe letter is in the word, in this place.
YellowWrong placeThe letter is in the word, but not in this place.
GreyNot in wordThe letter is not in the word, or the word has no more copies of it.

If a letter is grey but the same letter is also green or yellow in that guess, the word has exactly that many copies.

Questions

What do green, yellow and grey mean?

Green: right letter, right place. Yellow: the letter is in the word, somewhere else. Grey: the letter is not in the word, unless the same guess also marks it green or yellow. This tool shows them as ✓, ~ and × with words.

Does this tool know the puzzle of the day?

No. It holds no answer list and shows no date or puzzle number. It only filters words by the marks you enter.

Why is a word missing or unusual?

The tool uses the ENABLE2K word list, not Wordle's own lists, so it can show words the game does not accept and miss some that it does. See the notes at the end of the page.

How are repeated letters handled?

Each guess is scored the way the game does it. If you guessed SPEED and the first E is yellow and the second E is grey, the word has exactly one E, and it is not in place 3 or 4.

Is using a solver cheating?

That is your choice. It is a filter, not the solution to any puzzle. In shared games, agree on the rules with the other players.

Is KitPie Words affiliated with Wordle or The New York Times?
